How custom shading works
Ron Salvatore provides custom shading consultations at our Revere lab and in your office. Patients can come to the lab for a shade appointment, or we can meet them chairside, so the technician fabricating the case has seen the teeth in person.
When to request it
- Single anterior crowns next to natural teeth
- Veneer cases and smile makeovers
- Patients with unusual translucency, mamelons, staining or characterization
- Remakes where shade was the issue the first time
Getting the most from photos
If an in-person match is not practical, photos still help a great deal. Take them in neutral light, include a shade tab in the same plane as the tooth, and send one photo with a cross-polarizing filter if you have one.
